Summit Trail: (elevation at 2,704 feet) 1.2 miles one-way (total 2.3 miles); 1.5 hours; Strenuous and difficult. Another trail here is Cholla: total 3.5 miles; 2 hours; moderate. Perhaps the best in town hike in Phoenix, Camelback Mountain offers a central location. All of these are a rigorous climb of about 1,264 feet to their summit. The Camelback hike takes us through rugged sandstone cliffs, a 360-degree panoramic view from the top, and the chance to see a perfect sunset. This hike is a must-do. |
