The San Diego Natural History Museum is all about nature---past, present and future. The Museum
specializes in the nature of Southern California and Baja California, featuring exhibitions and giant-screen films about the flora and fauna of this region. It also hosts traveling exhibitions on a wide range of more global nature topics.
The San Diego Natural History Museum is a great place for families to explore, interact and learn together. Many exhibitions are presented in both English and Spanish. With payment of general admission all exhibitions and giant-screen films are open to visitors. There are no extra charges to enjoy all the Museum has to offer.
This Museum is the second oldest scientific institution in California and the third oldest west of the Mississippi. It was founded in 1875 by a handful of citizen naturalists. An active research institution, the Museum has a staff of over 60 scientists whose research is incorporated into the Museum's wide range of public programs and exhibitions.
