The Sheraton Harborside Portsmouth is a member of the New Hampshire Sustainable Lodging & Restaurant Program. The NHSLRP envisions a time when travel, dining and leisure activities do not adversely affect the places we visit and strives to ensure eco-responsibility by reducing the environmental footprint and providing a better guest experience. The Sheraton Harborside works diligently to address sustainability issues while continuing to pamper guests. The Sheraton saves energy through the use of compact fluorescent lights in guest rooms and other areas where lights remain on more than six hours, inside and out. Appliances are replaced with Energy Star rated equipment. Water is conserved through a towel and linen reuse program, low flow water devices and careful landscape maintenance. A recycling program is being implemented in the back office and banquet facilities. Cloth napkins and reusable dinnerware have replaced disposables. Service vendors also employ energy and water conservation and waste reduction strategies. The Sheraton encourages employee suggestions, rewards innovation and offers training in environmental measures.
