The six-acre Children's Zoo is open from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily. Extended weekend and special summer hours are 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Home to the Family Farm, Insect Zoo and meerkat and prairie dog exhibits, this area delights children of all ages.
The San Francisco Zoo is Northern California's largest zoological park and conservation center. This urban oasis, nestled against the Pacific Ocean, provides a comfortable climate all year round. You’ll enjoy seeing the 245 different animal species in naturalistic surroundings and our many Zoo activities & events!
The historic San Francisco Zoo strives to connect people with wildlife and to foster respect and appreciation of wildlife with fun and awe-inspiring experiences. Newest animal habitats include the dramatic three-acre African Savanna where giraffe, zebra and ostrich mingle together; the Lemur Forest with five species of lemur to be enjoyed at eye-level; Koala Crossing; Gorilla Preserve; Penguin Island and the Australian WalkAbout. Also, enjoy rides on the historic Little Puffer steam train and the beautifully restored Dentzel Carousel.
