Tasting & Pairing Terroir
The chef/owners of the two hottest farm to table restaurants in San Francisco, Stuart Brioza from Statebird Provisions and Evan Rich from Rich Table, join moderator and famed Food & Wine writer, Lettie Teague, for a food and wine pairing and discussion. Particular emphasis will be placed on why certain wines work better with certain ingredients and how sourcing and farming philosophies can translate terroir in a dish.
Our Guest Chefs, Stuart Brioza from Statebird Provisions and Evan Rich from Rich Table, will each select one wine from the West Sonoma Coast to pair with lunch. At the conclusion to lunch, the Chefs and moderator will tell us why they chose their wine. Afterwards we will open the vote to the room to see what you think.
Heintz Vineyard Chardonnay
Join us for an in-depth exploration of one of the iconic vineyards of the Sonoma Coast: Heintz Vineyard. The wineries purchasing fruit from Charlie and Karen Heintz are a veritable who's who of the best producers in the West Sonoma Coast: DuMol, Flowers, Freeman, Littorai, Williams Selyem, Ceritas, Radio Coteau, Kesner Wines, Banshee & Zepaltas. We will explore the vineyard and the wines produced from it through the lenses of terroir, winemaking technique and regional identity to better understand this extraordinary West Sonoma Coast site and what its wines can tell us about the potential of our region.
Oyster and white wine reception followed by the Grand Dinner at the Barlow.
The festivities continue with a pre-dinner reception featuring white and rose wines from the West Sonoma Coast and local oysters from Hog Island Oyster Company. Afterwards, we will seat for a Grand Dinner highlighting local Sonoma bounty. Dinner wines will consist of magnums of Pinot noir and Chardonnay supplied by each of the members of the West Sonoma Coast Vintners. Feel free to bring something from your cellar to share if you wish.
