The Hilton Family of Hotels, within our owned hotels and corporate properties – and directionally, throughout system-wide hotels globally, commits to the following five-year reductions (2009 – 2014) from direct operations:
- We will reduce our energy consumption by 20%;
- We will reduce our CO2 emissions by 20%;
- We will reduce our waste output by 20%; and
- We will reduce our water consumption by 10%.
In addition to these measurable, short-term targets, we are also committing to focus on some high-impact areas that offer huge potential for long-term benefits. Those areas include:
- Sustainable buildings & operations which includes:
- The advancement of sustainable design & construction;
- Hotel Operations;
- Chemical Management; and
- Purchasing.
- The advancement of renewable energy as a viable, cost effective source of power for our hotels globally.
