Hotel Overview The Congress Plaza Hotel, a historic Chicago hotel on Michigan
Avenue, was originally designed and built to accommodate visitors
to the World's Columbian Exposition in 1893, and over the years has
catered to our nation's Presidents, foreign dignitaries, opera
performers, stage and movie celebrities, business travelers, and a
multitude of conventions. Located on a picturesque setting on
Michigan Avenue, adjacent to Grant Park, this hotel is ideal for
visitors wanting a taste of Chicago.
The guestrooms and suites of the Congress Plaza Hotel are truly
spacious by today's standards, and many overlook the beautiful
waters of Lake Michigan. Over half of our 850-room downtown Chicago
accommodations have multiple bedding, perfect for families or extra
occupants. Requests for high floors, low floors, connecting rooms,
or even for more closet space, can all be accommodated at our
hotel.
**The Workers Union of Chicago has been conducting a strike
against the hotel since 2003. Guests may encounter picketers when
entering the hotel's entrance on Michigan. The hotel will make
every attempt to maintain guest satisfaction through the duration
of the strike.**

Meeting Space
The Gold Room at the Congress Plaza Hotel is famous for its
architecture and for its place in the history of Chicago. The Gold
Room is an elegant Chicago banquet facility that was restored in
1997 by the Italian artist Lido Lippi, restorer of the Sistine
Chapel, to its original splendor. The elegance of the room is ideal
for formal events and is often selected for wedding receptions and
banquets.
